In 1979, the U.S. embassy in Iran is invaded by Iranian revolutionaries and several Americans were taken hostage. But six managed to escape to the official residence of the Canadian ambassador and the CIA was ordered to take them abroad. Most likely, exfiltration expert Tony Mendez devised a bold plan: to create a fake Canadian film projects who want to shoot in Iran and smuggle Americans out ; production personnel. With the help of some trusted Hollywood contacts, Mendez created the list and went to Iran as its co-producer. But time is passing by Iranian security forces near the truth, while both his charges and the White House had serious doubts about the surgery itself.
